The Story

Landscape

The colours of the mountains shift with the changing seasons and time of day. This exquisite fabric captures the breathtaking beauty of autumn peaks illuminated by the setting sun.

Woven using traditional banshu-ori techniques, it creates a rich depth of colour by interlacing a single warp yarn with three distinct weft colours.

Banshu-ori Textiles

Nestled in the lush, nature-rich region of Nishiwaki, Hyogo, hatsutoki fabrics are crafted using traditional banshu-ori (播州織) techniques that date back over 200 years.

Blessed with abundant, crystal-clear river water perfect for yarn-dyeing, this historic textile hub is renowned for its premium quality. By weaving together intricately pre-dyed yarns, we create fabrics defined by their stunning depth of colour, poetic textures, and an incredibly soft touch against the skin.

Every thread carries the serenity of our natural surroundings and the meticulous craftsmanship of local artisans.
