The Story

Sumi

Inspired by the serene elegance of traditional Japanese ink, "Sumi" harbors a quiet dignity within its threads. Woven using the historic yarn-dyeing mastery of the Banshu (Hyogo) region, twisted multicoloured threads grant the fabric a multidimensional depth. Crafted from high-twist worsted wool, this wrinkle-resistant textile drapes flawlessly, effortlessly transcending seasons and occasions.

Banshu-ori Textiles

Nestled in the lush, nature-rich region of Nishiwaki, Hyogo, hatsutoki fabrics are crafted using traditional banshu-ori (播州織) techniques that date back over 200 years.

Blessed with abundant, crystal-clear river water perfect for yarn-dyeing, this historic textile hub is renowned for its premium quality. By weaving together intricately pre-dyed yarns, we create fabrics defined by their stunning depth of colour, poetic textures, and an incredibly soft touch against the skin.

Every thread carries the serenity of our natural surroundings and the meticulous craftsmanship of local artisans.
